Love this band, love this song.
I have ever since my very first middle school grade dance when this song came on and I asked Brittney Adcock to dance with me. Even though her boyfriend promptly stepped in and answered for her (true story), I sat on the gym bleachers and fell in love with the Cardigans instead of Brittney. Our Swedish-American love affair is still going strong 13 years and 3 albums later.

I’m taking a break from the studio updates to bring you another Retro Monday. Remember Cake?

They were always sort of a goofy band, but they’re really amazing musicians and write some songs that are pretty hard to get out of your head. The bass playing and guitar tones are what really get me going.. I could go on all day, but I’ll keep this one short. Here are 2 of my favorites for your viewing enjoyment. Hope this cheers up an otherwise monotonous Monday.

Remember Tonic?
Their hits were “If You Could Only See,” “You Wanted More” and “Mean to Me”. I always liked these songs but a year ago I picked up their two main albums, Lemon Parade and Sugar and I really enjoy their other stuff as well. Nowdays the lead singer, Emerson Hart has his own solo stuff, namely the album Cigarettes & Gasoline. Hart’s a great artist with a lot of Irish influence and some great Gretsch/AC30 tones plus some eclectic keyboard work on his album. If you like 90’s rock, Tonic, or modern melodic rock in general, you should definitely check out Tonic and Emerson Hart’s stuff. On a side note, I really think he sounds like my friend Steve Miller, except maybe not as good. Check Steve out too..
First up is the EPK for Hart’s record:
And then for the retro part, here’s one of their 90’s music videos (sorry for the closed captions):
